Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare, or original Medicare as it is sometimes called, is healthcare provided by the government. Alternatively, Medicare Advantage Plans give individuals the flexibility to purchase insurance from a private carrier already approved by Medicare. There are many carriers offering multiple plans for residents of Portland and the surrounding communities such as Beaverton, Tigard, and Gresham. Residents can choose from a variety of different insurers offering many of the same plans, though often at different prices. This makes picking the right plan not only confusing but often overwhelming.
Our licensed insurance agents work with our clients to ensure they select the right plan for their individual needs and budget.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans offer relief for the costs that exceed what Medicare is willing to pay or does not pay such as co-payments. Every Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policy must follow federal and state laws designed to protect you, and it must be clearly identified as “Medicare Supplement Insurance.” Insurance companies can sell you only a “standardized” policy identified in most states by letters.
All policies offer the same basic benefits but some offer additional benefits, so you can choose which one meets your needs
Each insurance company decides which Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policies it wants to sell, although state laws might affect which ones they offer. Insurance companies that sell Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policies:
- Don’t have to offer every Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan
- Must offer Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan A if they offer any Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policy
- Must also offer Plan C or Plan F if they offer any plan
Even with carriers offering the exact same benefits the premiums charged can and frequently do vary. For this reason, it is important to shop around and be aware of every option to ensure you are getting the best possible price. For the most accurate price comparison from one carrier to another, the exact same plans need to be compared. For example, you must compare Plan F from one carrier to Plan F from another carrier.
Picking the right letter plan to represent your needs and finding the best price can be tricky. We work closely with our clients to ensure the plan chosen is the best fit for their individual needs, at the best possible price.
