Medicare Advantage Plans
There are many Medicare Advantage Plans available for residents in Clark County. Medicare Advantage Plans give individuals the freedom to purchase insurance from private carriers. There are a number of carriers currently offering plans in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. By law Medicare carriers must renew their plans each year, however, these plans are regularly subject to change.
With Medicare Advantage Plans constantly changing it can be difficult to choose the right plan. We work with our clients to choose the right plan tailored to their specific needs and budget.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, also known as Medigap, are an addition to traditional Medicare coverage. Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans can be purchased through several carriers to cover expenses exceeding what Medicare will pay or does not cover, such as copayments.
Residents of Vancouver, Washington, and within Clark County searching for the right Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan should know that all carriers may only sell the same standardized plans identified by the letters A to N. Medicare Supplement Insurance carriers in Washington state are required to offer the same benefits as every other carrier.
Every Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policy must follow federal and state laws designed to protect you, and it must be clearly identified as “Medicare Supplement Insurance.” Insurance companies can sell you only a “standardized” policy identified in most states by letters.
All policies offer the same basic benefits but some offer additional benefits, so you can choose which one meets your needs.
Each insurance company decides which Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policies it wants to sell, although state laws might affect which ones they offer. Insurance companies that sell Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policies:
- Don’t have to offer every Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan
- Must offer Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan A if they offer any Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan policy
- Must also offer Plan C or Plan F if they offer any plan
Though each plan offers the same essential benefits the price will vary from carrier to carrier. To ensure you are making the most accurate comparisons be sure to compare the same plan letters. For example, if you are comparing a Plan F from one carrier be sure to compare that price to the price of a Plan F from another carrier. Picking a plan can be confusing, which is why we strive to ensure our clients have all the information necessary to make an informed decision in purchasing the best possible plan for their individual needs — for the best price as well.
